Each shift's minutes are clock-out minus clock-in minus its own break, added up across every shift. Whatever falls under the overtime threshold is regular time; anything past it is overtime, paid at 1.5x the hourly rate if you set one. Frequently asked questions
How is an overnight shift handled?
If the clock-out time is the same as or earlier than the clock-in time, the shift is treated as having crossed midnight — clock-out is read as happening the next day. A 22:00-to-06:00 shift comes out to 8 hours, the same as if you had entered it as spanning two separate days.
Why is overtime paid at 1.5x?
"Time and a half" is the common convention for overtime pay, so it is the default here. Actual overtime rules vary by jurisdiction, employer and contract — some places use a different multiplier, a different daily or weekly threshold, or none at all — so treat this as a simplification, not a substitute for the rules that actually apply to you.
Are break minutes subtracted once per day or per shift?
Per shift. Each row you add has its own break, subtracted from that shift alone before the shifts are added together — a 15-minute break on a morning shift and another 15-minute break on an evening shift both count, rather than one 15-minute deduction applied to the whole day.
